Dallas World Aquarium. Same sex wedding inspiration

Back in March of 2019 I was photographing a wedding. During the reception I noticed a very cute couple on the dance floor – Michael and Douglas. The way they were looking at each other and holding hands and dancing, they were clearly so in love. When I came home and was post processing those photographs, I couldn’t stop smiling when I saw pictures of them dancing. I knew I want to photograph them.

Later when my friend Tina with Serendipity Events by Tina said that she wants to do a styled shoot, I immediately knew who will be our couple. I reached out to my bride and asked her about her friends. It turned out that Michael and Douglas just got married few months before I met them at the wedding, so they were absolutely happy to model for us. It turned out that our colors matched their real wedding colors – gold and navy! They were naturals, and so much joy to work with.This styled shoot was two parts. As Dallas World Aquarium is such a unique venue and provides so many options we have done a rehearsal dinner set up in the shark tunnel with some portraits of the couple prior to the rehearsal dinner.

For the styled shoot the venue itself was our inspiration. We decided to do the ceremony by the waterfall at the Toucan Terrace. After that we took few portraits in the shark tunnel and moved to the cocktail area. The couple read their personal vows to each other on the balcony, where we also took few of their portraits with natural light. We also checked out beautifully set up lounge area – Manatee Cave and took few photos there. Too bad Manatee was asleep and showed up only for a minute. The reception was set up in the hall with original art pieces by Andy Warhol, which definitely added personality to our classic set up.With this styled shoot we wanted to showcase endless possibilities of the venue and its unique personality that can make any event stand out and help couples celebrate their love in a unique way!
